This week we had the chance to now what is going to be our first project which consist in creating three animations, being one of them a self-portrait. We also talked about the importance of a sketchbook to an animator and how helpful drawing is when we are trying to create movement, with particularly reference to "gesture drawing", which consist according to Walt Stanchfield in: "Draw ideas, not things; action, not poses; gestures not anatomical
structures.". We also talked about the importance of the lines of action which are an imaginary line that runs down the spine. The more curve you put into that line, the more attitude, force and/or movement the image will communicate and in the end it makes your character's
poses more visually interesting to the
viewer.
