This basic narrative concept appears in drama, storytelling and myth. It works as a template of a broad category of tales where the hero who goes on an adventure and in a decisive crisis wins a victory, then the hero comes home changed or transformed. We can observe the impact of this theory in some of the most iconic movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. Campbell in his work divided the journey of the hero into 17 stages that are split into 3 "acts" or sections. However, Christopher Vogler, a much more recent scholar, presents us in his book, The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers (2007), a division in 12 stages that are split in 3 acts. the hero's journey also includes 8 different archetypes, which are recurring patterns of human behavior, symbolized by standard types of characters in movies and stories.
