BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 8: Final

Dynamics is fundamental to understand about movement and how to create life and personality in animation. When animating in Dragonframe my animations had some inconsistency between the frames however, I think the quality of them has increased. I fell that I didn't had a lot of problems fulfilling the tasks that were asked.
I was confused about what we should submit to assessment and that made me feel a little behind schedule, I just wanted to make the three animations the fastest as possible. But overall both walking cycles are good and consistent, despite that in the disappointed walking cycle I had some problems with the movement and position of the arms in the beginning.
I decided to make the worm being squashed because it looked funnier to make, watch and exaggerate. So I looked for videos of a worm crawling so that I could observe their movement. I also wanted to exaggerate the squash and explosion but in a way that we could actually see the the body of the worm blowing and see what comes out so I did the squash slower.
I think my performance was good, however I have to improve my research on the blog because I didn't research a lot, but I am excited to start the next project.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Walking Cycles

We had to do two walking cycles for submission, one standard and other showing an emotion, so I decided to make the character look sad/disappointed. I also  tried to exaggerate the movement in both animations and made it very simple so that I could do it quickly and try to don't have much inconsistency between the frames.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Dynamic Animation Exercice

This is my Animation where I applied the stretch and squash principles. I believe that the animation shows the principles in a very simple but good way. When doing this animation I also wanted to exaggerate the stretch and squash so I made the ball not going very fast so that we can truly see the principles working.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Walking Cycles

This video explain very well how to make a walking cycle and since we are going to do more walking cycles in the future I think this video is very helpful.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 7

At this point I am working in the three animations that we have to do. I decided to do it digitally so that I could try to make them more consistent.I am almost finishing all animations and I fell that I moving in a good  rhythm. I had some problems with the arms of the disappointed walking cycle but despite that everything went well.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Dynamic Animation Exercices

Since I decided that I was going to animate a worm I looked for videos of worms crawling on YouTube. It was very helpful to understand the way they move and to realise that in fact they don't bend their bodies in the middle when they push forward.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Dynamic Animation Exercices Ideas

This are my ideas for the animation that we have to do and where we have to apply some of the principles of animation. The first one is a worm pushing a ball, the second is a woodlouse ruling in some hills, the third is a worm being squashed and the last one is a worm kicking a ball into a wall that then hits her face. I decided to make the stretch and squash because I think I can exaggerate more than the other making the principles more evident.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 6

This week I was very confused with what should we deliver to assessment, but after receiving a file that explained everything I started organising myself and the time I had. However, I felt that I was a little behind schedule but after I started working I felt that I was advancing in a good rhythm and things were getting better. One of the things that I have to improve is my blog, I need to add more research because it is very poor in that aspect.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 5

This week we had the chance to start working in TVPaint where we did some walking cycles. It is very cool and different from what I am used to, but it is a very good tool. In the beginning I had some problems to follow Robin, but soon my brain and hand got more comfortable using the program and then it started to get easier. I am really enthusiastic with that tool and I look forward to use TVPaint again.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | TVPaint Induction: Walking Cycle

This week we start using TVPaint which is a program compiled for graphic design and 2D animation. In there we did two walking cycles. The first one we just follow Robin's lead, so that we could learn more about the software and the second one we had to add an emotion to the walking. So the second walking cycle I decided to do it more sad and for achieving that I try to make the steps shorter and slower, and try to get his head a little bit more down.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 4

This week we focused on making a jump were we had to apply the principles of follow trough and anticipation, which are very important to make an animation more believable. In the overall I am happy with the result despite some issues in the second animation. The last animation was good but I think the person moves a little bit to fast when it is in the air.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Jumping Test 3

I did this test at home but I didn't had enough paper so I had to cut the character so that I could make it. In the end it looked very nice and to make it more believable in the end at the low point I added one more frame. I am happy with the result.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Jumping Test 1 and 2

We had to do a person jumping using the follow trough and anticipation principles. Anticipation is used to prepare the audience for an action, and to make the action appear more realistic and "Follow through" means that loosely tied parts of a body should continue moving after the character has stopped. The first animation was made only with the key frames, the starting frame, the two lows, the two were the body is stretched, the mid-air and the end, and it was made in fours. After watching it I decided that I should add more frames between the start and the low, and between the low and the end, however the end of the animation had some inconsistency between the frames, so I decided to try to make a third test at home.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Anticipation and Follow Trough

Follow through" means that loosely tied parts of a body should continue moving after the character has stopped and the parts should keep moving beyond the point where the character stopped. Anticipation is used to prepare the audience for an action, and to make the action appear more realistic.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 3

This week in Dynamics we focused on making a walking cycle using the technique animation by extremes. It was very exciting to make the character walk despite the fact that the technique we used more organisation from us. The result was really fun because my character bounced the shoulders a lot when walking. I really look forward to next week, to see what is the next step.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Walking Cycle

This time we had to make an animation of a man walking using the principles we had learned before. I made two tests and started a third one, where the man had a hat, that I couldn't finish. This time we did the animation using a technique called animation by extremes, where we start by doing the key frames, which are the two contact points, the pass points and the lower and higher points. In this way of making animations we have to be more careful with the proportions and with the arcs of movement of the character, we also have to be a lot more organised when drawing the frames. In the first animation we made, we only used the key frames in fours. The second one we did using 16 frames in twos. An other principle I applied was exaggeration in the movement and despite the position of the shoulders, a bit inconsistent, it looks nice and believable.

BA1a: Dynamic Animation | Week 2

This week was very productive and interesting, we did animations about bouncing balls to helps us understand the timing and spacing which are fundamental to make an animation believable. Despite the fact that I had some trouble doing the heavy ball, the others went well, without big problems. In the last animations, where we had to add ears, a tail or both, I felt excited because now we are starting to progress, adding a secondary action, one of the principals of animation.

Ba1a: Dynamic Animation | Bouncing Animal | Test 2

When I finished test one I still had some time so I did another animation where I applied the same principles of the bouncing ball but in this time I wanted to show that the ball was alive and had control on is movement. In the overall I thing the test went well despite some problems with the movement of the tail, it has to be smoother.
